MARGAO: Goa Forward Party has written to the Election Commission alleging violation of Model Code of Conduct by Margao Carnival Committee by means of advertisements released in local dailies mentioning names of Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and other politicians.
The GFP has in a mail to Election Commission regarding the flagging off of carnival float parade in Margão said that the advertisement says flag off at the hands of Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, Cabinet Ministers and other politicians by Margao Carnival Committee 2020.
“This is complete violation of Model Code of Conduct as it is already enforced for Zilla Panchayat elections to be held on March 22,” says GFP.
State Election Commission has communicated through the mail that it has forwarded the complaint to concerned authorities for necessary action. The Tourism Minister meanwhile refused to comment on the complaints of poll code violation.
