MAYEM: Goa Forward Party’s (GFP) Mayem candidate Santosh Sawant, today canvassed house-to-house in Watadev, Karapur and Sarvan areas of his constituency. Asma Sayed, president of Goa Women Forward, the women’s wing of the party, accompanied him and evoked encouraging responses from the women of the homes they visited.
Conversing with locals, Sawant said, “The only option for you right now to save Goa and Goans from further hardships is the Cong-GFP alliance. We promise to give you a government that will first listen to you and then act as per your suggestions and demands. We do not want to dictate you. We promise to work together with you to solve your problems.”
Sayed explained how it has become extremely difficult for the woman of the house to manage household expenses in the face of the steep rise in the prices of essential commodities. She blamed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government for the price rise. “This government is not bothered about the lives of the common Goenkar,” she said, “People have had to compromise, even on their basic daily meals, because of the faulty policies of the government. It will be still worse if the BJP comes back to power.”
Sunita Naik, a housewife, expressed her anguish, “I do not know how I can feed my family if prices rise further. There is no sign of anything becoming cheaper. At this rate, this ‘mhangai’ will one day kill us. We will not vote for the BJP. They are depriving us of proper food. We are totally neglected by this government and our MLA. We have never seen him, nor has anyone else from the government come to help us, even during the Covid pandemic.”
Sayed added that every vote is important. “Do not waste your vote by falling prey to false promises and free doles offered by parties who have come to Goa as tourists. If you cast your vote for any party other than the Goa Forward Party in Mayem, it will only benefit the BJP. Vote for the Congress-GFP alliance candidate Santosh Sawant, it is the only way to send BJP home and take Goa forward.”
