PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has issued notice to the State government taking cognisance of Herald news report regarding non-payment of salaries to Mamlatdars. The notices to Chief Secretary, Secretary (Revenue) and Secretary (Personnel) are returnable by March 15.
Herald, in its Wednesday’s edition had reported that the government committed a major error which resulted in non-payment of salaries to eight Mamlatdars, who were appointed on ad hoc basis in January 2018 for six months. Since then till date, they have not been given the salary as the Personnel Department has failed to regularise their appointment or extend the ad-hoc appointment.
The Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) had taken up the issue and written to the chief minister seeking resolving the matter on priority. “It is reliably learnt that 8 mamlatdars have not received their monthly salary for the past six months. It is given to understand that the period of their ad hoc appointment has not been extended nor their service has been regularised and owing to the said technical reason, it is claimed that their salary has not been paid for last six months,” the letter says.
