PANJIM: In a bid to identify the current status of the industrial estates, including the vacant plot areas, underutilized plots, encroachments, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) has decided to carry out Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) survey of all 24 industrial estates of the state.
GIDC, currently reeling under the tedious task of putting in order the depleted industrial estates, has decided to prepare a layout plan of all the estates by carrying out DGPS survey. In the first phase, the DGPS survey of industrial estates of Verna, Kundaim and Cuncolim would be undertaken through a private agency.
The Corporation has invited e-tenders for preparation of layout plans.
Official said that the layout plan would help corporation in establishing the current status of the industrial estates, as most are in very bad and chaotic shape. He said that the DGPS survey would be carried out in phase manner.
“Though we have complete data of all the operational industrial units and the allocated plots, there is every possibility of some illegality in form of encroachments. Such things are not possible to identify through ground study,” official said.
Official also said that the plan will help them to identify the vacant plots and also those left unutilized or underutilized. Kundaim, Cuncolim and Verna are the most saturated industrial estates in the state, he said.
Around 100 industrial plot owners were issued show-cause notices by the GIDC in March 2013, following which 30 plots were taken over while granting additional time of six months to the remaining in December, last year. Now GIDC is planning to take over another 35 plots.
