Girish must introspect on how he finished Cong in Goa: Sardinha

The MP says Congress failed to form govt because the ex-State party president allotted tickets to wrong people

MARGAO: South Goa Member of Parliament (MP) Francisco Sardinha on Saturday called upon former State party president Girish Chodankar to do introspect on how he finished the party in the State during his tenure.

Sardinha’s statement was in retaliation to Chodankar’s remark during an interview to a media channel questioning the MP’s contribution to the party.

The South Goa MP said that he has been with the party for a very long period of time and has done a lot to the party in Goa.

Chodankar had stated that Sardinha needs to introspect on what he did for the party.

Speaking to O Heraldo, Sardinha countered Girish saying: “In the past Congress failed to form the government because it was Girish who allotted tickets to wrong people to contest the elections. Hence, he should first introspect on how he finished the party in Goa.”

“In 2014 when I did not contest the Lok Sabha elections, Congress workers worked for the candidate who contested on Congress ticket but lost by a margin of nearly 32,000 votes,” the MP said.

“Girish contested the last elections with the help of party workers and the people who were very close to him but still lost the elections. Like I said earlier, credit of my victory goes to party workers and the voters,” said Sardinha.

He said that with the help of party workers he won the last LS Polls in 20 days by nearly 10,000 votes.
