PANJIM: Congress candidate for the Panjim by-election and AlCC Secretary Girish Chodankar has urged for randomisation of voters in the Assembly constituencies of Panjim and Taleigao.
Chodankar had last month filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding bogus voting reported in Panjim during the by-election held in August.
“In some parts of the Panjim assembly constituency, especially in Part No 28 and 29 there is lot of segregations among the voters of same households as well as in same complex having enrolled their names in separate constituencies namely Panjim and Taleigao. This is completely illegal and bad in law,” Chodankar said in his letter.
He said that during his investigation, it was revealed that this has been done due to political pressure. “I think it is improper to have households of same building in two different constituencies in the official electoral roll prepared by ECI. This will send a wrong signal to the voters and will doubt the integrity of the ECI,” he said.
