PANJIM: A day before BJP National president Amit Shah’s visit, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) on Saturday demanded that either the party give Goa its Chief Minister or take back the undemocratically installed state government.
Addressing the media, GPCC spokesperson Yatish Naik said, “Either Shah should give Goa its Chief Minister or take back this undemocratically installed government. The current government was inducted against the wishes of the people, though Congress party had won the highest seats during 2017 elections.”
He said, “There are five issues we are posing before Shah in the form of questions. Why have you left Goa headless for over two months thereby pushing Goa in a state of policy paralysis and administrative chaos, especially when you installed an unholy alliance government? Where are the jobs for our youth? Where is the special status promised to Goa? Debt has gone to over Rs 16,000 crore, why is the State being pushed into a dangerous debt trap? And why is there no action and policy approach to restart sustainable mining?”
GPCC President Girish Chodankar said that in the absence of the Chief Minister, the administration has collapsed, that there has been no cabinet meeting, no governance in place and the people are frustrated.
He said, “BJP is not able to identify even a temporary alternative to lead the State. We demand that the State government give clarity on the health conditions of the Chief Minister.”
