PANJIM: The Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim has rusticated five interns, including a female, after they were found under the influence of alcohol and ganja in the boys hostel, earlier this week.
Olsen Vaz, Stefan Colaco, Rahul Thali, Manoj Coudhary and Carol Mary Shaju are the interns, who have been rusticated from GMC with “immediate effect until further orders”.
GMC Dean Dr Shivanand Bandekar in the rustication order issued has said that a police complaint has been registered by the warden of the boys’ hostel at Agassaim Police Station.
“With reference to the incident report submitted by the security guard on duty in boys hostel on May 25, regarding yourself along with three other male interns and one female intern all under the influence of alcohol and objecting the presence of female intern in boys hostel and further also in presence of unknown substance of abuse (probably ganja under investigation) and subsequently police complaint registered by the Warden of Boys Hostel in Agassaim Police Station, you are hereby rusticated with immediate effect from Goa Medical College and Hospital until further orders,” reads the order.
The Agassaim Police have already registered FIR against unknown persons after they allegedly found 7gms of a substance, suspected to be ganja, in the common bathroom of the GMC boys’ hostel.
Police said it is not known who had got the contraband in the hostel premises and that further investigation is on.
