After setting up Urology Unit, GMC is now set to have kidney transplant unit. Kidney transplant patients are currently referred elsewhere for want of facilities in GMC.
Urologist Dr Madhumohan Prabhudessai, who set-up urology unit and currently working full-time on honorarium for GMC said, GMC would soon have kidney transplant facilities and infrastructure is being set-up.
The Urology Unit that started functioning in April last year, receives about 100-110 patients on OPD days. The OPD function thrice a week while surgical unit has done about 600 surgeries, since then.
