In a determined stand against the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in elections, a prominent forum in Goa organized an awareness program on Saturday, vehemently advocating for the reinstatement of the traditional ballot system. The forum has called upon the people of Goa to participate in a massive rally at Azad Maidan, Panaji, on March 4th, to collectively voice their demand for the abandonment of EVMs and the reinstatement of the time-tested ballot system.
Jack Mascarenhas, a prominent activist and co-convener, expressed concerns about the vulnerability of EVMs to manipulation, calling for their immediate discontinuation. He emphasized that a substantial number of people across India have united against the use of EVMs, urging the judiciary to intervene and ensure elections are conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

Mascarenhas announced the presence of lawyers from the Supreme Court during the mega rally, who are expected to provide crucial information on the matter. In a fervent appeal to safeguard democracy, he urged all Goans to unite and demonstrate support for the movement against EVMs.
Tanoj Advalpalkar, another activist, echoed the sentiment, expressing concerns that EVMs might be susceptible to manipulation, leading to misuse of votes. Advalpalkar stressed the need to scrap the use of EVMs, citing the apprehensions and perplexity among the people of Goa regarding the integrity of their votes.
