Goa Board to meet on May 4, to decide on Class X, XII exams

PANJIM: The Executive Committee of the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) will meet on May 4 to discuss and decide the schedule to conduct the Class X and Class XII Board examinations. 

While the Class X Board exams, supposed to be held from April 2, were postponed due to the COVID-19 lockdown, in case of Class XII, three subject papers were held up. 

“The national lockdown, as per today, will end on May 3. There is no clarity whether the lockdown will be extended or not. We will be in position to know in next two-three days,” Goa Board Chairman Ramakrishna Samant said. 

“Whatever may the decision on lockdown, the executive committee, will meet on May 4 and decide on the conduct of the board examination,” he said. 

Nearly 17,000 students had registered themselves for SSC examination. 

Samant said that the rescheduled time table for Class XII examination would be announced five days prior to the commencement of the exams, while in case of Class X the same would be 10 days in advance. 

Following the State government permission, the Goa Board has resumed the pending assessment work of already held Class XII Board exams. 

The examinations, which had begun from February 28, were halted from March 23.
