PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education will start online applications for examinations from this year onwards, board chairman J R Rebello told assembled media after the announcing the results.
“From this year onwards, probably from the October supplementary 12 exams, we want to start forms to be submitted fully online,” Board Chairman J R Rebello said.
The online filling and submission of forms will be done with the help of the DOIT website.
“They will capture the data and then give to us. Initially we will ask for both paper and online forms, but later we will make it fully online,” he said.
While asking not to publish the merit list, Rebello reiterated that the decision to do away with the list was taken some ten years back. All boards are doing it and some – like CBSC — have even stopped announcing the marks and only announce grades for the tenth standard.
“The idea is when you have marks because sometimes the difference between 1 and 2 is just 1 mark. It is not fair,” he said.
“In the future, there are plans to have at least the SSC results with grades,” Rebello said adding that CBSC is already doing it.
However, he said that there is no decision on this as such and at “present we give marks as well as grades.”
