PANJIM: In all likelihood the Goa Budget 2013-14 may not squeeze the middle class further, in an inflationary scenario, if Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar’s Wednesday statements are an indication.

Parrikar said that he would not raise taxes but garner revenue as he prepares to place his second budget during his second stint in government before the house on Monday evening.

“There are many areas where money can be recovered from,” the chief minister told media, alleging that there was “free loot going on,” during the reign of the previous governments.

According to Parrikar, plugging of revenue leakages will be the thrust area of this budget.

The budget session will also see tabling on bills pertaining to panchayats, urban development, service guarantee, revenue. The investment policy too could be placed before the house.
