Goa Coastal Police, in coordination with officials from the Defence forces and National Cadet Corps (NCC) students, hoisted the Indian national flag on Grande Island and other islands in the Arabian Sea off the Baina Coast on Tuesday.
The flag-hoisting programme was organised to foster patriotism, enhance maritime awareness, and strengthen coordination between security agencies and the youth. The ceremony underscored the strategic importance of India’s coastal and island territories and reaffirmed the collective commitment to safeguarding the nation’s maritime borders.
NCC cadets actively took part in the event, symbolising youth involvement in national service and responsibility towards coastal security. Officials said the initiative also aimed at creating greater public awareness about the importance of coastal vigilance, national unity and the role of various agencies in protecting India’s vast coastline.
The event was described as a meaningful step towards promoting a sense of pride, preparedness and cooperation in maintaining maritime safety and national integrity.
