PONDA: Goa Dairy Chairman Madhav Sahkari announced that milk prices will be hiked following high production costs, but assured that the price rise will be done keeping in mind the common man adn will be less costlier than other companies.
He said milk being sold here and produced in other states is already costlier. He said the price hike will be done taking into account the interest of farmers and its customers. He said Goa Dairy has been forced to hike the milk prices as Cattle fodder and raw material rates have gone up rapidly. Also the burden of subsidies provided to farmers is sharply felt. Goa Dairy faces losses and in order to meet this expenditure, there is need to increase prices of milk.
He said in the next board of directors’ meeting, the issue of price rise will be discussed and the hike will be announced.
He said some media are publishing adverse reports against Goa Dairy without getting into the facts and said he was ready to present all information and documents to the media.
He further said although election for the new board of directors has been already held for next five years, however, some member of Goa Dairy has approached the court challeging the procedure following which he has been retained as care-takar Chairman of Goa Dairy until the Court takes a final call.
The Court has directed those petetioner to approach the Administrative Tribunal to decide the matter and the tribunal has been directed to hold the elections for Goa Dairy Chairman’s Post in four weeks’ time.
