Vasco: The NGO Goa First has written to the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) requesting them not to grant any funds to Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) for celebration of the Centenary year of MMC.
Parshuram Sonurlekar of the Goa First while issuing a public statement over the centenary celebration of MMC said “A letter to the DMA and Urban Development Minister Milind Naik will be written requesting not to grant any funds for centenary celebration planned by the Municipal Council” he told. The MMC plans to celebrated the Centenary year of Mormugao Municipality in month of February 2019 and Goa First feels that is utter misuse of honest tax payer’s money.
“If the Council wishes to celebrate the centenary year it can be done by using the grants to waive off residential house taxes, garbage collection fees for the centenary year, beautification of Vasco city, upgradation of Sada garbage treatment plant and many other issues pertaining to Mormugao Council jurisdiction” said Goa First.
