The Goa government has approached the Bombay High Court at Goa, challenging the order of the North Goa Principal District and Sessions Court which granted bail to accused Zenito Cardozo in the activist Rama Kankonkar attempt-to-murder case.
Petition Filed Against Bail Order
In its petition before the High Court, the State has sought to set aside the Sessions Court’s decision to release Cardozo on bail, arguing that the gravity of the offence and the circumstances of the case warrant reconsideration of the relief granted.
The case pertains to the alleged attempt to murder activist Rama Kankonkar, which had drawn significant public attention at the time of the incident.
High Court Issues Notice
The High Court has issued notice to respondent Zenito Cardozo and has adjourned the matter for further hearing to March 12.
The case is expected to be taken up on the scheduled date, when the court will consider submissions from both sides regarding the validity of the bail order.
Further developments are awaited as the matter proceeds before the High Court.
