Goa’s revised Sports Policy aims to give greater focus to structured sports development, athlete-centric support systems, and the promotion of rural and tribal sports. The policy also emphasises coaching support and stronger public-private partnerships to boost overall sports growth.
Aligned with national sports initiatives, the updated policy introduces better monitoring frameworks compared to the previous policy from 8 November 2009. This approach seeks to ensure improved planning, accountability, and results in sports administration across the state.
Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar shared this update in response to an unstarred question by MLA Aleixo Lourenco in the Assembly. The policy revision underscores Goa’s commitment to nurturing talent at all levels and providing opportunities for athletes from rural and tribal communities, aiming for holistic development and enhanced participation in sports throughout the state.
