Goa Revolution Day celebration to be kept low-key this time

PANJIM:  This year’s official Goa Revolution Day programmes by the State government at three different places will be a restricted event. All the functions to commemorate the historic event will be held on Friday, June 18 at 8.45 am 

In Panjim, Governor of Goa Bhagat Singh Koshyari and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will lead the people of the State in paying floral tribute to the martyr’s at the Martyrs Memorial at Azad Maidan.

The function will be held by observing all the norms of social distancing. 

The function shall not be open for any guest or general public in view of the COVID-19. Goa freedom fighter Association and School Children are also not allowed to participate in the function. 

In Margao, Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar will preside over the function at Lohia Maidan. This function will be organised by the South Goa District Collector’s office, in coordination with the Public Works Division VIII, Fatorda Margao, Margao Municipal Council and Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services. 

In Ponda, Minister for Art & Culture Govind Gawde will preside over the function at Kranti Maidan.
