CANACONA: A Goa registered taxi while returning after dropping a client to Bhatkal in Karnataka met with an accident on NH66 at Mazali check post as the car hit a cow, on Tuesday late evening. The car got extensively damaged in the incident, the driver escaped unhurt but the irate mob manhandled him, eyewitnesses said.
Sources present at the site of the accident said that a Goa registered taxi while returning after dropping a client to Bhatkal unaware of cattle on the NH66 road hit his car to on a cow, the impact was such that the cow died on the spot.
The driver escaped unhurt while his car was totally damaged on the front side, news of the accident spread in the village and the locals gathered manhandled the driver, an eyewitness said. However, no police complaint was registered in the matter, Karwar rural police said.
