Goa to host G20 summit in April; Tourism to benefit in a big way

PANJIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday informed that eight of the 200-odd meetings of the G20 Summit on key sectors such as Tourism, Health, Sustainability goals will be held in Goa.

Sawant attending the virtual meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with CMs and officials of all states where the G20 summit meetings will be held in India. 

Speaking to media persons post meeting, Sawant said that the first event of the G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Goa in April 2023.  

He asserted that Goa Tourism will benefit in a big way due to the event and that the government will try to promote local handicraft, cuisine, culture etc. 

The G20 is an international grouping of the largest industrialised and developing nations in the globe.

On December 1, India formally took over as G20 President. 

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States and the European Union are all members of the G20.
