PANJIM: Water Resources Department (WRD) Minister Subhash Shirodkar on Friday said that the State government will urge the Mhadei PRAWAH authority to intervene in stopping Mhadei river diversion activities by carried out by Karnataka.
Addressing a press conference at State secretariat at Porvorim, Shirodkar said, ”Diversion activities like digging and excavation are what we seek to stop. That is the main thing.”

Shirodkar said the PRAWAH Authority has asked the three riparian states namely Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka to share with it visit plans for familarisation with the Mhadei Basin.
”They have written to all the three states – Maharashtra, Karnataka and Goa- to send their visit plans to the river basin site. Where we want to visit and when. They have termed it as familiarisation of the basin. We will send our suggestions. Maharashtra government has already given its plan. Karnataka has not given and nor have we. Based on the suggestions received from the three states, the PRAWAH committee will take a decision,” he said.
He said as since the Chief Minister is out of the State, the visit plan from Goa will be submitted by Monday evening or latest by April 9.
He said PRAWAH Authority will decide which places to visit as well as date of the joint inspection after receiving the plans from the states.
