PANJIM: Days after clashes between the private taxi operators and GoaMiles app-based taxi operators, in Colva, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said he would provide security to the app-based taxi service operators.
The Chief Minister chaired a special meeting with various stake holders and legislators to resolve the rift amongst them.
Speaking to reporters, Sawant said, that the state government would provide security to GoaMiles app vehicles plying in the State. He also said that the police officials would follow legal course of action against Churchill Alemao with regards the complaint filed at police dept by the taxi drivers.
Sawant said that he would also seek report from the police department about taxi operator’s ruckus.
Churchill Alemao, who was also present said that he would extend his support to locals and would not allow to ply GoaMiles vehicles in the coastal belt of Colva.
He said that people from Colva have objected to app-based taxi services only in coastal belt and the app-based service could remain functional in city areas.
Meanwhile, the officials of the GoaMiles App, informed media that they intended to educate local taxi operators across the State and get them absorbed into app-based taxi hiring system.
Go Miles also told reporters that it would provide Rs 22 per km tariff to the private taxi operators, who intended to link their taxis to the app.
