PANJIM: The Directorate of Education (DoE) said that the schools in the State will reopen after the summer vacations as scheduled on June 6.
Since the south-west monsoon arrival in the State has been delayed and there is also no sign of pre-monsoon showers, the parents were expecting the education department to reschedule the school re-opening.
Speaking to Herald, DoE director Nagaraj Honnekeri said that as on date, there is no such move to reschedule the school reopening. “Also, we have not received any demand as such from parents or schools,” he said.
The onset of SW monsoon over Kerala is expected on June 6 and it will reach Goa by June 11-12.
Meanwhile, the department has said that the students, studying in Class I to IV, will get their set of free notebooks, raincoat and uniform in the first week when the schools are set to re-open. Nearly one lakh students studying in government and government-aided primary schools are eligible for the benefit.
The department has placed its order for raincoats and uniform with the State Khadi and Village Industries Board, the notebooks would be provided by Goa Sahakar Bhandar.
