PANJIM: This year’s edition of IFFI could have a special section on Goa including films made by Goans, which had a crucial Goan hand, etc with the steering committee of the International Film Festival of India in principle agreeing on such a proposal.
Speaking to Herald, ESG Vice Chairman Vishnu Wagh said that among the decisions taken was to agree on the modalities of which have to be worked out.
“All these years Goa has not been showcased. We thought that there should be a section for all Goan films produced, or films produced where Goans have played a major role. Principally it is agreed that such a section be there. Now we have to work out a criteria for selection of films, etc.” Wagh said.
The first meeting of the steering committee which kicks off IFFI preparations also discussed issues like general organization, discussions on who are the dignitaries to be invited including a review of last year’s festival, discussions on handing out of works, etc.
Next week the technical committee will be visiting the State to check out the technical capabilities of the IFFI.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Secretary and was attended by Director of IFFI Secretariat Shankar Mohan, and representatives of the Goa government as well as the Directorate of Film Festivals.
