COLVALE: Even as embarrassment mounts as hundreds of Americans have lost significant amounts due to the purported online fraud committed by a fake call centre at Kavish Residency, Colvale, the apathy of the Panchayat Directorate or its complicity is getting evident.
The Colvale Panchayat knocked on all available doors to stop the illegal structure which later housed the fake call centre’s operations. But their own department’s directorate first stalled their efforts and so did the Block Development Office, whose inaction provided more fresh air for current and subsequent illegalities.
The Colvale Village Panchayat has informed that the Kavish Residency, from where the fake call centre operated, is illegal and following complaints, a demolition order was issued to Vikas Arolkar for his ground plus three structure located at Mushirwado.
Earlier this week, during a raid on Kavish Residency, the Crime Branch officials busted a fake call centre.
Cut to MARCH 2022: Exactly a year ago, the Colvale panchayat headed by then sarpanch Nitin Kandolkar had issued a show cause notice on March 2, 2022, to Vikas Arolkar as to why illegal construction of a ground-plus-three structure and compound wall should not be razed.
The construction is located in Survey No 84/10 B at Mushirwado, Colvale. This is where Kavish Residency was built on which the fake call centre operated from.
On April 11, 2022, the panchayat issued a demolition order to him for carrying out the illegal construction in violation of the building regulations in force.
Arolkar was directed to demolish the illegal structure and the compound wall which had no permission from the panchayat and the departments concerned, within 30 days failing which the panchayat would demolish it.
Arolkar approached the Directorate of Panchayats and managed to obtain a stay on the demolition order.
And that isn’t all. The panchayat informed Kandolkar, and wrote a letter to BDO informing that the building is illegal and had a demolition order issued against it, but the BDO didn’t respond allowing the illegal structure and the subsequent illegal activities to go on in full flow.
