PANJIM: Goencho Avaaz has moved the High Court of Bombay at Goa against the upcoming hotel project at Assonora village.
In a press statement issued on Sunday, Goencho Avaaz convenor Viriato Fernandes said that they have approach the Bombay High Court to fight and stop the project.
He said that the case has been taken up by prominent High Court Counsel Carlos Álvares Ferreira pleading to issue stop work order to the project in public interest.
Fernandes said that Goencho Avaaz, approached various government offices to stop the project but realized that the concerned departments viz. TCP, Panchayat, PWD, Tillari Irrigation department, etc were working under tremendous pressure from the higher ups including ministers.
“The organization had solemnly promised the people that the pollution danger to the fresh water river of Assonora due to the upcoming hotel project which would affect lakhs of people across Bardez, Bicholim and Pernem taluka,” he informed.
The NGO has requested the people to decisively vote for the party that is best suited to fight and defeat the divisive forces led by the BJP in both Lok Sabha seats and the four assembly by polls.
