VASCO: Goencho Ekvott, an umbrella group of over 30 organisations fighting against three linear projects has now gone a step ahead and extended its support to around 80 young ,fresh and experienced candidates for the
upcoming Panchayat elections from different parts of the state .
Speaking to the media , social activist Olencio Simoes said that the organisation wanted to support the people who had the urge to carry out development at the village level for the benefit of the people ” We have decided to field young, fresh and experienced candidates in areas across Mormugao and parts of Salcete, Canacona, Quepem and even Sanguem .These candidates will be fielded with an objective to protect the constituency, village , wards while also opposing projects like the three linear projects that are forced on the people. We have seen many parties that came up during assembly elections claiming they are different and their activities during the Presidential elections or Dy Speaker elections has now proved that they are the A and B teams of the ruling party, ” said Simoes.
Orville Dourado, the Founder member of Goencho Ekvott said that the main objective was to filed fresh Candidates who had witnessed the destruction of villages in the name of development “Every village faces has their own peculiar issues and we are backing the youth who believe in saving villages from mass destruction so that this goodwill can translate across India,” said Dourado.
