PONDA: Gold ornaments and two laptops, worth a combined Rs 1.15 lakh, were stolen from a house in broad daylight at Pondlem in Bethora-Ponda on Monday.
According to Ponda Police, Sashikant Gaonkar complained that the incident came to light when his daughter returned home from college at about 1 pm. According to information, the incident could have occurred between 11 am and 1 pm, as during this time all the occupants were away. Police said the burglars entered the house by breaking the front door lock and decamped with gold ornaments and two laptops along with the chargers. After noticing the front door lock broken and belongings from the cupboards scattered on the floor, the complainant’s daughter immediately informed her father about the incident.
Fingerprint experts and a dog squad was pressed into service and Ponda police is investigating the case.
Meanwhile, Ponda Police arrested a resident of Tisk-Ponda on charges of possessing ganja. Accused Ranjan Behra was nabbed at Zungadi-Mal Curti and 13 grammes of Ganja worth about Rs 130 was recovered from his possession.
