PANJIM: Job seekers have reason to be happy. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday launched the National Career Service (NCS) portal, a government-run online job platform which aims to create a direct market place for job seekers and job providers.
Under the Digital India programme of the Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, the State department launched the portal www.ncs.gov.in, the initiative that revolves around strengthening the existing employment exchange ecosystem with an ICT enabled platform and reaching out to masses through multiple delivery channels and partnership with existing job market players.
The portal is linked to all major national job portals. With a provision to apply nationwide job openings, the State government can also post vacancies and carry out the selection process.
Launching the portal, Parrikar said the highlight of the system is that all stakeholders in the employment ecosystem are brought onto a common platform, including jobseekers, government departments, employers in the private sector, skill providers, placement agencies, local service provider and counsellors.
“It will work as easy access for job seekers offering multiple career and employment options across the country and State. It will also help in getting actual data of employers, employees, employed and unemployed etc,” he said.
He further said that through this portal, stakeholders from the public as well as from private sector can search for qualified candidates to employ in their establishments. The best career options provided will also help aspirants intending to become self-employed as well, he stated.
Labour Minister Rohan Khaunte said the government is adopting the NCS online portal and planning to discontinue the ongoing manual services offered by the employment exchange. “Under this, the unique identification of each stakeholder will benefit government in collating the information which will facilitate efficient policy decision,” he said.
He said that the system will ensure complete transparency in the recruitment process and that regular information will be received through SMS/emails about the activities and events organised by the department.
Khaunte has appealed to all valid employment exchange card holders and non registered job aspirants, public and private sector employers, skill providers, counsellors, placement organisations and others to register on the portal at the earliest. In all 53 sectors with 3000 odd career options are currently available on the portal.
