Goods seized in Panjim raids

Department of Legal Metrology officials raided six establishments including Vishal Mega Mart, Panjim and seized goods worth Rs 12 lakh for not following packaging standards and rules.

PANJIM: Department of Legal Metrology officials raided six establishments including Vishal Mega Mart, Panjim and seized goods worth Rs 12 lakh for not following packaging standards and rules. 

The other establishments that were raided including two garment stores, two power tools shops, one mobile phones and accessories shop. 

According to sources, the department officers seized mobile accessories worth approximately Rs 1.20 lakh, garments worth Rs 1.5 lakh, power tools worth Rs 2.5 lakh, and bed sheets, electronic goods, appliances, gas stoves, etc from the Vishal Mega Mart. 

All the stocks that have been seized are packaged goods, which were not following the standards. 

Cases have been booked against the defaulters and raids within Panjim will continue over the next few days. 

The management of Vishal Mega Mart declined to comment when asked for reactions.
