PONDA: Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai on Tuesday said that people are always supreme power in democracy. As per the constitution of India people are supreme. He said, considering the importance of people in democracy, Raj Bhavan has decided to visit all panchayat areas in the State he said. The Governor today visited Marcaim and Shiroda in Ponda taluka as a part of his ‘Sampurna Goa Yatra’. Stressing on ‘Gram Swaraj’ concept of Mahatma Gandhi, the Governor stated that ‘it was Gandhiji’s idea of self-reliant village, which was a unique concept of rural reconstruction.’
Later, the Governor visited Marine Farming Site at Askanwada, Marcaim and acquainted himself about the process of mussels harvesting adopted by Goa University under Directorate of Unnat Bharat Abhiyaan. He discussed in details the process of mussel cultivation with local beneficiaries.
