Govt also to provide emergency medical facilities at Ponda CHC

PONDA: The State government on Tuesday decided to utilise the old unused Community Health Centre by providing an outpatient department (OPD) and emergency medical facilities for the Ponda locals.  

Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude along with Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, Ponda Municipal Council Chairperson Venktesh Naik and the councillors inspected the Community Health Centre and decided to set up an emergency OPD, Casualty facilities at this centre, which is located in the heart of town.

It may be recalled, despite strong resistance from the Ponda locals, the State government recently began the process of converting the Ponda Sub District Hospital into COVID Hospital after providing alternate medical facilities, at Dilasa Hospital, at Farmagudi. 

“The necessary medical facilities, equipment and doctors of Sub District Hospital are also shifted at Dilasa Hospital. Besides, OPD and Casualty, all the medical facilities that were provided earlier at Sub District Hospital Ponda would be provided to patients at Dilasa Hospital,” said Health Official Dr Vikas Kuvelkar. He urged the Ponda Taluka locals to visit at Farmagudi Dilasa Hospital for medical treatment.

Gaude along with Ponda MLA and Health Official Dr Vikas Kuvelkar inspected the newly set up facility at Dilasa Hospital, wherein the Ponda Taluka locals would be provided health care after Ponda Sub District Hospital is closed for general public.
