BICHOLIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday said that the government will provide all necessary assistance and compensation to storm affected persons from Navelim, Sankhali.
Sawant stated this after visiting and taking stock of the situation at the thunderstorm hit area. The Disaster Management Authority and the State government authorities are assessing the damages to properties and restoration for the properties will be given all the necessary assistance. The electricity poles and other public properties will be restored quickly to restore normalcy, he assured the affected villagers.

As many as eight electricity poles were damaged, Sawant said and asked the fire and emergency officials to trim the hanging braches of dangerous trees.
The total loss due to the storm is estimated to be around Rs one crore. Navelim sarpanch Kalidas Gawas, panchayat members and officials of fire and emergency services were present.
