PORVORIM: Despite government’s warnings, the Goa Government Employees Association’s pen down strike is likely to affect government services on Monday. There are around 57-58,000 government employees in the State and pay upgradation is the point why the Association has given the pen down call, which affects 31,000 employees. The Association, refuting government’s allegations on the strike said that it had not suddenly decided to strike during budget session, but had been negotiating since last two-and-half years. It had also given enough time to the government to study and settle the demand.
“CM Manohar Parrikar had given assurances to settle the demand in 2012 and 2013, however, the demand has remained unsettled,” states a GGEA communiqué.
that refutes a government circular saying “As regards to false and misleading Govt. Circular issued on 14/8/2014, GGEA clarifies as under:- Govt. itself has created disparity in pay scales by resorting to selective upgradation and GGEA is fighting for similar upgradation to all the categories that are left out.”
