PANJIM: Goa Technology Association (GTA) recently celebrated its second anniversary.
Addressing the gathering chief guest Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant said, “I am happy to see Goan companies providing several software solutions to the world. It is a green and non-polluting industry which requires very less land to operate and we strongly support such endeavours.”
“About 100 companies are now registered with the government and over 30 companies are already enjoying the benefits of the IT Policy. A fund of Rs 33 lakh has already been allotted by the State government to give incentive to these companies. The government will extend full support to this industry,” said Dr Sawant.
The newly appointed IT Minister Jennifer Moserrate said, “In the next two years we will try to change the landscape for the benefit of all so that technology and IT companies can flourish in Goa along with the start-ups in the State. We are in the process of creating a holistic and robust plan for full implementation of the policies on start-up and IT.”
President of the GTA, Mangirish Salelkar said, “As the founder President it was a huge responsibility and ownership to take. However, it would not have been possible without my founder team members, Milind Prabhu, Gajanan Nagarsekar, Sujeet Shetty, Milind Anvekar, Caslino Periera, Cicero Silva, Yashvit Naik and Rohan Warty.”
“First year was all about building member trust, government and industry connect, national and international MoU signing and bridging gaps between industry and academia. The second year brings in more responsibility and GTA 2.0 will have to concentrate on innovate, invest and influence,” he said.
“We also have to focus on research, have innovative ideas to create their IPR, patents, invest in technology, resources and attract investments to Goa. We need to not just wait for getting motivated and get inspired by others but be heroes in the community,” he added.
