Govt failed to restart mining: GMPF leader

PONDA: Goa Mining People’s Front (GMPF) leader Puti Gaonkar said he would work against the BJP in the forthcoming State Assembly elections for failing to restart mining.
Addressing media persons, Gaonkar said, “When former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had stated in Goa Assembly that he had shut down mining activities in Goa I fail to understand why the BJP politicians are now blaming the Opposition for shutting down mining activities.”
He said both the BJP government and Delhi politicians want to handover Goa’s mining ore to crony capitalists via auction. On the other hand, the livelihood of mining dependents has remained the same.
