Claiming that the development has stuck for the last five years, the Opposition MLA Francis D’Souza on Wednesday criticised the government for the delay in the finalisation of the RP 2021.
‘The regional plan cannot be carried out for an eternity,’ the Mapusa MLA said adding ‘a clear cut time frame needs to be set for its drafting.’
Pointing to the 1,000 objections and suggestions received by the TCP, D’Souza said ‘one does not know when the plan will be finalised.
‘A time frame needs to be framed for the Regional Plan’s Implementation,’ said D’Souza.
Claiming that every panchayat had the right to know what has happened to their suggestions or objections D’Souza said that the government should issue a detailed report should to every village panchayat on the status of their suggestions.
Justifying the protests against the mega projects, D’Souza said, ‘people are right as the projects are altering the demography of the villages.’
The government must provide basic amenities to the people first and then approve the mega projects, he said.
Provide villages with sufficient water, electricity, put in place garbage treatment plants than why will villagers object to the projects, he said.
