CANACONA: Poinguinim ZP member Daya Pagui has lashed out at the Canacona administration for politicizing government organised functions by denying invitations to elected members in the taluka.
Speaking to Herald, Pagui claimed that he and a few other elected members in the taluka have not been invited to government organised functions including the State and national days for the last two years.
“When BJP formed the State government, I was initially given official invitations to selective functions organised by the government, especially in my constituency. But since August 2014, I have not been given invitations for the Independence Day flag hoisting ceremony, Goa Liberation Day and more recently, the Republic Day at taluka headquarters. Is this not an insult to an elected member?” he asked.
Pagui claimed that as a patriotic citizen, he needed no invitation to attend a flag hoisting function.
“I can attend flag hoisting at a place of my choice in my constituency. But doesn’t the protocol demand official invitations to elected members for the State organized functions,” he asked.
