CANACONA, MAY 9
Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has assured the State’s freedom fighters that the government has an ambiguous plan to meet most of the demands put forth by freedom fighters.
Kamat was speaking at a short function organised by All Goa Freedom Fighters Association (AGFFA) at Poinguinim, where a cheque for Rs 50,000 was handed over to the Canacona Flood Relief Committee (CFRC).
Kamat handed over the cheque for Rs 50,000 as the AGFFA’s contribution to CFRC’s representatives Anant Agni and Ajay Prabhugaonkar, who are building houses to the last years October 2 flood victims in Canacona.
Earlier, AGFFA’s President Chandrakant Kenkre handed over a memorandum and appealed to the chief minister to resolve their long pending demands.
Responding to the memorandum, Kamat reiterated his government’s commitment to meet most of AGFFA’s demands.
“We had pruned the Freedom Fighter’s board to a barest minimum now. Earlier, instead of solving problems, it used to be responsible for creating too much chaos in its functioning. So we are heading in the direction of meeting most of your demands,” Kamat assured the freedom fighters.
Freedom fighter Vithal Prabhugaonkar was also present among the several other freedom fighters, while Sant Andre MLA and Vice Chairman of Goa Infrastructure Development Corporation Francis Silveira and Canacona MLA Vijay Poi khot were also present on the occasion.
It is learnt that the freedom fighters have a charter of demands pending with government, which reportedly includes providing them with suitable land and government jobs to their children.
