Govt hikes subsidy on clay Ganesh idols

PANJIM: The State government has decided to double the subsidy for artisans making clay idols this Ganesh Chaturthi festival. 

The government was currently providing a subsidy of Rs 100 on each clay Ganesh idol to discourage people from buying Plaster of Paris (PoP) idols, which are harmful to the ecology.  This year the subsidy has been increased to Rs 200 per idol subject to maximum 250 idols per artisan, it was informed.
