MARGAO: The Congress has alleged that the Goa government is institutionalising corruption by appointing consultants.
Alleging that KPMG appointed as consultant by the government has a history of scams in Canada, US and South Africa, the Congress has demanded the KPMG “be fired from all the projects in Goa.”
The Congress alleged that KPMG misappropriated over 30 million South African rand meant for the farmers of that country. However, the same scam tainted agency is a favourite of the Goa government, as it has hired KPMG for various works.
“KPMG has a history of money laundering and forging documents in Canada and USA,” Congress spokesperson Avinash Tavares said.
“KPMG is the consultant of Goa Government for 25-year tourism policy, Investment Promotion Board and the Financial Consultants for Mopa Airport. The tourism policy is in dire straits, the consultant will finalise projects passed by KPMG for IPB and similar discrepancy in Mopa too,” Tavares said.
The Congress said that it would write to the Chief Secretary and the Comptroller Auditor General to investigate into the dealings of the consultants.
