Govt neglects Fatorpa govt high school

The Fatorpa Government High School is allegedly being neglected by the government which has even omitted it from its school building development scheme.

Parents of the students say that the school is ignored because it falls in the Quepem Constituency which falls under the Opposition MLA Chandrakant Kavlekar. Naik Dessai, one of the parents, says this is a great injustice to the students and feels that it is not fair to play politics in education.
Parents are alleging that government has purposely neglected this school repair work. Fatorpa Government High School, which has classes from Std I to Std X, is catering to rural area students from Cotto, Moll, Fatorpa, Telai, Bomdamol, Madyemol and other remote areas till Quitola and Naqueri.
The government has given the Infra Structure Development Corporation the project of repairing and developing government schools with modern infrastructure facilities. Government has spent crores of rupees for this project claiming that rural students must get qualitative education hence there is need of good infrastructure. This modernisation of government schools is a welcome project but it is allegedly being partial as regards to selection of schools.
Government has developed more than dozen government schools in South Goa.
Government has developed two schools in Cuncolim Constituency. The Ambaulim Government High School and Balli Government High School buildings got a new look under the modernisation of schools scheme.  Both these schools now have well equipped class rooms, good laboratory, library facility, toilet facilities and good modern furniture. However, the Fatorpa school which lies in the close vicinity of these schools, is being neglected, the parents alleged.           The parents as well as locals of Fatorpa are demanding that politics should not infiltrate into education and the government should include the school in the modernisation scheme.
