PANJIM: The State government on Friday claimed that it has recovered dues of Rs 1.5 crore from the organisers of TimeOut72 Electronic Dance Music (EDM) festival.

The submission was made in the High Court of Bombay at Goa in response to a Public Interest Litigation filed by activist Trajano D’Mello. The government, had last month, made an oral submission about the recovery while a written submission was made on Friday.

The petitioner had alleged that the organisers were allowed to hold the event at Vagator in 2017 without paying security deposit and the decision of the State Level Permission Committee was bypassed by the Tourism Minister “for reason best known to him and he allowed the EDM event without taking security deposit”.

The Court had then issued a notice to the Goa government over non-recovery of Rs 1.5 crore from the organisers. While the PIL has been disposed off, separate matter against TimeOut over cheques bounce case will continue.
