PANJIM: As schools functioning under the jurisdiction of Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education commenced the academic year Wednesday, the government provided all government schools with Kadamba bus service, officials said. Aided schools continued to ply the Bal Rath buses to ferry their students.
The government also began the modified mid day meal scheme for school children.
According to officials most of the text books have arrived and the rest will arrive by June 10th.
“Most of the text books have come, and orders for notebooks too have been placed,” Director of Education Anil Powar told media adding that the scheme for supplying raincoats too is on.
Meanwhile the Directorate of Education has said that it is implementing the Cyberage Student Scheme 2013-14 where Laptops would be provided to the students of Class XI of aided and unaided schools. The Cyberage Student Scheme 2013-14 has been extended to the students of recognized unaided Higher Secondary Schools. The scheme will cover students admitted to Class XI (of all streams), during the present Academic Year in recognized higher secondary schools affiliated to any recognized Board of Education.
The scheme will also cover the Class XI Arts, Commerce, Science & Vocational students respectively, studying in state government and government aided higher secondary schools, admitted in the above streams during the present academic year.
Students have to apply through the School authorities, to the Directorate of Education in the prescribed format to avail the benefit of the scheme.
The scheme will ensure supply of one Laptop equipped with 14 or 15 inch screen, optical drives and having mid-level processing capabilities, consisting of Webcam, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and standard
ports.
The equipment will have warranty of one year. The laptop cannot be used for any commercial purpose or sold for one year from the date of supply.
