PANJIM: The State government on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with major industrial establishments in the State under the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021, wherein the government will provide an additional stipend of Rs 1,500 per month.
The Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021 is aimed towards skill development for future employability of Goan youth. The scheme will benefit 2,500 youngsters annually.

The MoU was signed between the Goa Human Resource Development Corporation (GHRDC), on behalf of the State government and the representatives of major industrial establishments.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant congratulated all human resource heads and managers of companies for signing a MoU and creating a new revolution to provide skilled manpower in the State.
He said that many a times the industries were finding it difficult to get trained skilled manpower in the State and were hiring skilled persons from other States.
Sawant said that now skilled manpower will be created in the State by training them as per the requirements of the industries and will be given priority in the appointment by these companies as and when vacancies arise.
“The Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021 will run for five years. Every year, 2,500 youth will be trained and a stipend of Rs 1,500 will be paid to youth in addition of Rs 1,500 stipend paid by the Government of India under its National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS),” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister also announced launching of the Union government’s customised crash course programme for COVID-19 frontlines workers, at the Sai Para-Medical and Sai Nursing Institute, Sanquelim. He hoped that Goa will be self-reliant in skilled manpower in future.
GHRDC Managing Director Narayan Navti said that the Corporation will create an online portal giving details of apprenticeship trainers, which will help the companies to assess the availability of skilled workforce and hire them.
According to Navti, 12 companies signed a MoU on Friday even as 30 companies have joined the Chief Minister’s Apprenticeship Training Scheme 2021 and they will sign a MoU soon.
GHRDC Officer of Special Duty (OSD) Pravin Volvotkar was also present.
