Govt to amend land law to speed up mutation, partition

PANJIM: Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister Francis D’Souza said that necessary amendments will be made in the Land Revenue Code for the speedy disposal of mutation and partition cases at the mamlatdar level.

He said that mamlatdars who are supposed to carry out mutation upon the sale deed of the concerned party are sitting and inquiring into the matter when this is not required.
Answering queries raised by MLAs over pendency of mutation and partition cases, D’Souza said that some cases are pending due to objections received.
Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai said that the cases should be disposed on first come first basis and incomplete applications should be reverted back within seven days.
MGP MLA Lavu Mamlatdar brought to the notice of the House that a mutation is pending before the Ponda mamlatdar for 24 years.
Congress MLA Pandrang Madkaikar said agents at mamlatdar offices are taking money to settle such mutation and partition cases.
