PANJIM: State government will issue Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Ganesh Chaturthi celebration next month in view of COVID-19 pandemic.
Speaking to media persons on Friday, the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that government will issue necessary SOP for Ganesh Chaturthi celebration. “The second wave of COVID-19 is still there. The positivity rate is around 1.9 to 2 per cent. There are daily deaths too. Under such situation, it is important that we continue to take precautions,” Sawant said.

He said that before drafting SOP, the Saravjanik Ganesh Mandals will be taken into confidence, to ensure that the celebration is a low-key affair.
“I also appeal people to see that the festival is celebrated taking all the necessary precautions,” the added. The Ganesh Festival will be celebrated on September 10.
Responding to a question related to re-opening of schools, the Chief Minister said that government is yet to take any decision.
