PANJIM: To boost the State’s efforts to promote quality education, the State government will now re-engage the services of the “retired resourceful teachers” to work in the government sector for effective academic advising.
The Directorate of Higher Education (DHE) has introduced a scheme “Engaging Retired Resourceful Teachers”, for PhD degree holders.
The maximum tenure of the resourceful teacher, who has served regular service for a minimum period of 10 years in any educational institution, will be up to three years from the date of retirement or superannuation or up to the completion of the approved project, whichever is earlier.
“The intent of the scheme is to engage the services of the retired teachers to utilise their academic excellence, capabilities and skills to assist in developing meaningful educational, cultural, scientific, social, rural, urban, agricultural, developmental, oceanographic, and other related goals that are consistent with interests, values and abilities of the State,” the notification reads.
The scheme also aims to provide effective academic advising to the students to help them utilise the extensive network of academic support services available on campus and empower them to realise the full academic experience.
“It also aims to boost the efforts of the State in promoting quality education, research and innovations,” it added.
The senior academicians’ wisdom and knowledge will be utilised for bettering the government departments, government, autonomous bodies, government corporates, government societies and government institutions etc.
The DHE has said that those departments or institutions who intend to engage the services of the retired teachers should submit the applications for the same.
Under the scheme, the retired senior professor will receive a monthly remuneration of Rs 1.4 lakh, a professor Rs 1.3 lakh, associate professor Rs 1.2 lakh and assistant professor Rs 80,000.
The retired teachers having minimum 15 years domicile and Goan origin teachers, who have provided service for a minimum of five years in Goa in their entire academic career, with residence in Goa, will be considered under the scheme.
