PANJIM: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho on Tuesday said that the 12 accident black spots identified across the State will be rectified before code of conduct for Lok Sabha polls come into force.
Speaking to reporters after chairing a high-level meeting attending by Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel and other senior police officers, Godinho said, the government will begin works to rectify the black spots before the election code of conduct comes into force.

“Instructions have been given that before the election code of conduct comes into force, the 12 blackspots, which have been identified, should be rectified,” he said.
“As far as rent a cabs are concerned it must be checked whether they have speed governors installed or not. If not installed then they must be installed as early as possible. If not done then we will see that the cars are taken into custody by the RTO or the Police. Now if two serious offences take place we will impound the car. We will not allow this rash and negligent driving,”’ he said.
Godinho said the Department of Transport has also been instructed to take steps to prevent road accidents in the State.
He said the government will take a decision with regards to fitment of digital meters as well as there are many taxi operators who do not put those digital meters to use.
The Minister said the rent-a-car operators are not following Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs), while giving their vehicles to tourists.
